이날 행사에는 토드 글로리아 시위원, 샌디에이고 시 및 여러 단체들의 인사들이 참석하였다. 초대된 신규국제커테지단체회장 유지니 킹은 주정부의 지원 발표는 현재 공사를 진행하는9개의 커테지를 건축하려는 원래 목표 달성을 가능하게 하는 중요한 지원이라고 밝혔다. 32개국 문화를 대표하는 국제협력의 집 중 여러나라들이 10년 이상 단독적으로 신규 커테지 건축을 도모하던 중, 지난 2016년 11월에 9개국이 모여 샌디에이고시로 부터 건축물허가를 함께 획득하였다. 그러나 공사입찰 중 건축비용이 초기 예산의 거의 2배로 상승함에 따라, 그동안 지속적으로 모금 운동을 해오고 있는 중이다.
한국의 집을 대표하여 참석한 이미영팀장은 “공사 지연을 피하기 위해, 9개국 모두가 필요한 건축자금 확보가 어려운 상황에서, 초기 계획한 9개 커테지가 들어갈 5개 건물이 아니라 4개 건물 건축을 먼저 시작하는 것으로 지난 5월 공사 재입찰 후 공사자 선정 후, 6월에 공사를 시작하는 것으로 결정하고 진행 중이다. 이번 주정부의 지원은 9개국이 함께 9개 커테지를 동시에 건축하는 꿈을 이룰 초석이 되었다”고 언급하면서, 한국커뮤니티의 지속적인 관심과 후원을 당부하였다.
